Packers WR Christian Watson Responds Honestly to Missed Catch in Eagles Loss
Green Bay Packers wide receiver Christian Watson is owning up to his missed opportunity in the Packers' 10-7 loss to the Philadelphia Eagles on Monday night.
In the first quarter, on a crucial 3rd-and-20 play, Packers quarterback Jordan Love launched a deep pass to Watson that would have put the team inside the Eagles' 10-yard line, potentially setting up a scoring opportunity. However, Watson failed to secure the catch, appearing to panic as he turned into a defender to prevent Eagles cornerback Quinyon Mitchell from intercepting the pass.
Upon review, it seemed Watson could have made a play on the ball if he had tracked the pass better in the air. The question, “Should Watson have caught this?” circulated on social media, and Watson was quick to offer a blunt response.
“Yes,” Watson replied, taking full accountability in a repost of the clip on X.
While it was more of a missed opportunity than a direct drop, Watson’s mistake was part of a larger trend of struggles for the Packers' offense in the loss to the Eagles. Green Bay punted on their first four drives and didn't score until midway through the fourth quarter.
Watson finished with a team-high 45 receiving yards on two catches, but it was little consolation as the Packers dropped their second consecutive game.
